The Battle ends, the War continues...
The deadline for petitions is July 23 and at this point it's pretty clear that, barring a miracle, we are not going to come close to the 1.2 million signatures that we would need to make it to the ballot in November. As I said when we started this effort, gathering 1.2 million signatures over such a short period of time was a tremendous challenge (FYI - that's about 2400 pounds (well over a ton) of petitions), and with the state's requirement that every page of every petition be notarized, and New Jersey's onerous fund-raising limitations for Recall Committees, it just proved un-doable without substantial major-media support.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who helped, who circulated petitions and spread the word. A special thanks goes out to NJ 101.5, and especially Jim Gearhart.
We knew this would not be easy, but we should have no regrets about the decision to try. I certainly don't. We helped put pressure on the Governor, which helped to force him back down on some of his really bad proposals, like the 800% toll increase, and the closure of 9 State Parks. We also helped wake up at least some of our citizens to the terrible job that Jon Corzine is doing.
This Battle is over, but the War for Fiscal Responsibility in New Jersey Government goes on. Please stay involved, please continue to press your legislators to do the right thing, and - come next year - please do everything you can to make sure that Jon Corzine - WORST GOVERNOR EVER - is a one-term governor.

It was a damn good effort. Bless all of you. I don't know what else to say but it seems like the bad-guys always win in NJ.
